Zhang Zhibin, Han Chinese, is a modern calligrapher and painter, and a recognized “National First-class Artist”. He used to study in Beijing Fine Art Academy, and later in 2002 graduated from China Calligraphy & Painting Correspondence University (today’s China Calligraphy & Painting International University). His works are generally valued by military officials and have been included in museum collections of US, Thailand, Myanmar and Italy. He is a member of China Hard-pen Calligrapher Association Henan Branch and Hebei Artist Association, Director of Jiangshan Artists Association, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, Honorary President of Zhangjiakou Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, Secretary General of China Huaxia Wanlihang Calligraphers and Painters Association, Director of Beijing Xuanhe Art Research Institute, and the “Promotion and Charity Ambassador for Sino-European Cultural Exchange” at the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary. In 2019, he was honored as the “Ambassador for Chinese and American Painting and Calligraphy” at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-American friendship. The Professional Title Appraisal Center under the Ministry of Culture of China has priced his paintings at 20,000-50,000 yuan per square Chinese foot (=about 0.11 m2). Zhang’s works, with a unique charm, are greatly favored by collectors. In 2014, he was awarded the title “Morally and Professionally Outstanding Military Artist”; in 2018, the title “National Rite Artist”; and in 2019, the title “Most Collectible Artist”. His Chinese landscape paintings feature unrivalled characteristics: austere yet profound; compellingly powerful and vividly beautiful; injecting philosophical connotation into delightful details; perfectly combining the Chinese and Western painting techniques, and revealing a beauty of diversity. Whether it is a tailored work or a spontaneous creation, Zhang’s paintings can always readily serve as a carrier of emotions and ideas.
