He has done various large scale public works in the past year. Combining a love of street art with the sensitivity of ink and penmanship, a series of conversations about human nature, people, technology, media, politics and sexuality unfold before us using a complex language of colour, symbolism and metaphor. Upon first glance you will smile at familiar individuals as they are depicted in their most candid states: a beach bum,a suited man,a young punk. He incorporates symbols and typography of different cultures to internationalise his works. Although dominated by recurring human faces and bodies, Eddie’s work also touches on the interaction between people and nature, people and technology, animals and animals.
His artwork has been used for an Art tram roaming the streets of Melbourne.
The works are drawn on a mixed media background with media imprints, collages and painted surfaces, creating textures and interesting relief effects. These backgrounds symbolise everyday life with it's elements of surprise chaos and segments of different colours. Nudity in the artworks symbolises vulnerability. Eddie is fascinated by how our conscious would take an element of beauty and attraction and turn it into a sin. People who are covered up are symbols of pretence, as well as an controlling character. There are figures relaxing and others moving away, others reaching out. They tell stories of everyday life. Some artworks are of cameras, fishes, butterflies and any objects. They still do represent humans and are metaphors of us in relation to each other and the whole.
